Ingredients:
- 1 cup masoor dal
- 1 tomato, finely chopped
- 1/4 tsp turmeric pwd
- 1/4 tsp red chilli pwd (adjust)
- salt to taste
- 1/2 tbsp oil
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1-2 dry red chilli, de-seed and tear
- 1 tsps butter for twist
Steps:
Wash and keep dal for boiling with 2 cups of water in a pot.
Add salt, turmeric and red chilli powder. Also add tomatoes and cook on a low fame, till the dal and tomatoes are mashed completely.
You can add water if you want a watery consistency. Once ready, keep aside.
In a separate frying pan, heat oil for tempering.
Add cumin seeds and red chillies and let them splutter.
Add butter for a twist and turn off heat.
Pour this seasoning over the dal and serve with rotis or white rice.
